I've been interested in bodybuilding for a long time. I remember seeing a competition on television as a kid and I was mesmerized by the physiques of the guys on stage. The paper-thin looking skin, the bulging veins, and the huge muscles all made for something that completely captured my imagination. I knew that some day I would lift weights, though I never knew exactly how much of a part it might play in my life. I got my first chance to explore this when I was a young teenager. My parents bought me a little weight set that I started using in our basement. It was pretty basic stuff, but I did notice that my body began to get bigger and stronger. As I grew older I became involved in high school athletics, where my strength did help me to succeed. I wasn't quite good enough to take things to the college level, but I did continue to enjoy training throughout my college days. I got preoccupied with other things after college and kind of started slacking off just a bit. I never completely dropped out but the passion and intensity were not quite there. But recently I have really been interested in it again: I guess you could say I am enthusiastic about bodybuilding and lifting weights. One person that has really helped me is Ben Pakulski. He has a program called Mass Intentions Extreme CEP Training that's really good. This is one of the most intense routines I've ever done and I really see that it has helped me be more strategic in my workouts. I really could care less about joining a bodybuilding contest myself: I am actually not quite as interested in the professional aspect of it. But I am enjoying it personally as a hobby and I think I will continue to see how far I can take it naturally. |
